This is a set of collector's masks from the Chinese Opera based on Journey to the West. The masks are each about 2 inches tall. I found the set in the back of a jade factory store in Beijing, China. (I was there during the summer of 2001, when my wife and I led a tour group of thirteen high school students to China. The tour was exhausting and incredible!) The characters pictured are (from left to right): Friar Sand, Hsuan-tsang, Buddha, Sun Wukong, and Pigsy.
